Crown Watches

Crown is the knob on the outside of the watch case that is used to adjust the time, date and for winding up the watch. It once known as winding stem, for it winds the mainspring in Mechanical watches. On diving watches, the crown may be screw down to make the watch more water resistant. The crown screws into the side of the case via a threaded tube to lock out dirt and water. To set your analogue watch pull out the crown to the first click and set the hands to the correct time, when finished setting the watch, push in the crown completely. If your watch has a screw-down crown, press in the crown gently with a finger, and then twist the crown clockwise to screw it back down.
